Vacuum brazing bonds exposed diamond to the tool body through a brazed alloy. Electroplating mechanically locks a diamond layer in a metal coating. The best process depends on material, geometry, cutting or grinding behavior and the result required.

Vacuum brazed tools are a useful starting point when exposed diamond and aggressive action are important. Electroplated tools are often considered for sharp, thin or accurately formed working surfaces. Neither route is automatically better for every job.
