Diamond Hole Saw Connection Guide

M14 vs Hex Shank Vacuum Brazed Diamond Hole Saws

The connection must match the buyer's machine before diameter, drilling mode, branding or packaging is finalized. Use this guide to compare threaded and shank-mounted formats.

Quick Comparison

Start with the machine, then confirm the application.

M14 and 5/8-11 are threaded connections for compatible machines. Hex and round shanks are held by compatible drill chucks or holders. None is automatically better for every job: the correct format depends on the machine, spindle or chuck, diameter, material and working method.

Threaded Connections

Choose M14 or 5/8-11 only after confirming the spindle.

A threaded vacuum brazed diamond hole saw can be supplied for a compatible angle-grinder or drilling system. M14 and 5/8-11 are not interchangeable. The buyer should confirm the exact thread, machine speed range, hole diameter, working depth and whether the approved tool is intended for dry or wet use.

For an OEM range, record the connection on the product marking, label, barcode data and packaging so the end user can identify the compatible machine before use.

Shank Connections

Match hex or round shanks to the drill chuck and holder.

Hex shanks can provide a positive mechanical grip in a compatible chuck or holder. Round shanks require the correct chuck capacity and clamping condition. Confirm shank width or diameter, overall length and working length together; changing one dimension may affect case layout and product labeling.

Small-diameter sets often use shank-mounted formats, but the final assortment should follow the buyer's machine system and application rather than a generic size list.

Diameter & Material

The connection is only one part of the specification.

Porcelain tile, ceramic, granite, marble, glass and engineered stone can require different diamond exposure, grit, working edge and operating guidance. Send the hardest target material, thickness, opening diameter, drilling depth, machine, speed and cooling condition before confirming the product.

Compare the full vacuum brazed diamond hole saw range, then review wet versus dry diamond drilling if the operating method is not yet fixed.

OEM Buyer Checklist

Prepare the machine and market data before requesting a set.

For an accurate quotation, provide the diameter range, connection by item, working length, target material, dry or wet preference, expected quantity, body color or finish, logo, barcode, packaging format and destination market. For a mixed set, also provide the case layout or a reference sample.
